What is patron-initiated inter-library loan?

It is an automated system that allows you to access the Ontario Inter-library Loan system (known as INFO). You can place a request anywhere, anytime.

Signing Up

To request your own inter-library loans, you need to be a registered user of the Huntsville Public Library. An Inter-library Loan account is also required.

Please read and accept the following terms of use before proceeding to create your account.

Terms and Conditions for Patron-Initiated Inter-loan

  • Patrons must check our library database to ensure we do not own the book before requesting on inter-library loan.
  • New books published within the last three months are not available through inter-library loan.
  • The usual loan period is three weeks with a possible two-week extension.
  • Overdue charges for inter-library loans are $1.00 a day per item.
  • Renewals must be requested 3-5 days prior to the due date by contacting the Huntsville Library.
  • The request process can take anywhere from a week to two months depending upon the availability of the material.
  • Some libraries restrict lending on certain materials; books on CD, DVDs, rare books, popular materials and fragile items.
  • Some libraries charge to lend their materials. The library will contact you for approval if this is the case.
  • Loss of borrowing privileges will result if a patron is consistently late with the return of their inter-library loans.
  • The lending library will assess any damage or replacement charges.
