Rotary Teen Space

The Rotary Club of Huntsville has made possible a dedicated lounge and cyber-cafe for teens opening which opened in March 2010.

Rotary Teen Space offers couches, beanbags and other casual seating with six Internet-capable workstations on a mix of café-style stands with bar stool seating. Shelves with teen hard cover and paper back fiction, non-fiction, graphic novels and music CDs define the edges of Rotary Teen Space.

Added funding for Rotary Teen Space was provided by the Friends of the Huntsville Library and the Library Board from general public donations.

The Rotary Teen Space Project won the 2010 Angus Mowat Award for Excellence (Large Library category) from the Ontario Ministry of Tourism and Culture. The award was announced at the Public Library Awards dinner at the Ontario Library Association Super Conference at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre on Feb. 3, 2011. Library Board Chair Mrs. Barbara Stephen accepted the award on behalf of Huntsville Public Library from Laura Albanese M.P.P. Parliamentary Assistant for Culture. Mrs. Stephen was accompanied when receiving the award plaque by Mrs. Barbara White, representing the Rotary Club of Huntsville.
