If you can write a letter to a friend, you can write about your life.
Meet two hours weekly for six weeks with others wanting to write on their lives and a staff facilitator.
Between sessions group members write two pages - like a letter to a friend -- on the week's topic. The facilitator provides topic sheets with questions to get you started.
After completing the program you have a mini-autobiography with five themed chapters (Major Points of Change in My Life; My Family; My Career or Major Life's Work; Money, Health Problems and other Obstacles in My Life; The Meaning of My Life/My Philosophy of Life). Share it with family and friends, or keep it as a tool for reflection.
Program offered every 18 months to 2 years. Next session spring or autumn 2012.
Fee: $10
Registration Required.
Those who want to continue life-writing can consider joining the Library's Memoir Club program.
