Huntsville Public Library is a Selective Depository of Federal and Ontario government publications.
The Federal program makes Canada-level government documents available free of charge to depository libraries, in exchange for making them available to the public for at least five years (unless replaced by an updated version).
The Ontario program makes available a smaller proportion of provincial documents. We do purchase or select a limited number of high-interest Ontario publications, including multiple copies of some (for example the Ministry of Transport's Official Driver's Handbook).
We have eight shelves in a separate government publications near the adult reference area.
Major Statistics Canada publications include:
Other Federal departments we regularly select material from include Health, Environment, Public Health Agency, Human Resources and Skills Development, Public Safety, Natural Resources, Immigration and National Defence.
We also obtain copies of some more popular titles in DVD and CDROM format. The bulk of the government documents can be borrowed, although many statistical, directory or reference-style publications are for use in house only.
