Need help in deciding what to read next?
Featured Database for February: NoveList Plus
Library staffers are here to help.
Another resource for "what should I read next?" assistance is NoveList Plus. NoveList Plus is a database giving subject access to over 155,000 novels and 60,000 popular non-fiction titles. You can browse, save “to read lists” on your own free account, look for read-a-likes for favourite authors, and much more.
For example if you like Danielle Steel, the “read-a-like” feature tells you Fern Michaels, Barbara Delinsky, and Eileen Goudge, write novels which have similar situations and that recent Barbara Bradford Taylor novels follow similar lines.
Away from the library you will need your library card number and the last four digits of your phone number.

New PlayAway All in One Format Audiobooks
Like listening to books?
We have a new way for you to hear readings without a CD, cassette or MP3 player. The book comes preloaded on its own pocket-sized player with fairly simple control buttons. You can rewind, fast forward, etc. and the book stays in place when stopped. The library even supplies the batteries.

Ontario Library Service
Overdrive eAudiobooks
As part of a $15 million dollar investment in library services by the Ontario Ministry of Culture for 2009-2010, the Ontario Library Service (OLS) has bought access to a large collection of MP3 audiobooks in Overdrive format for two years. Huntsville Public Library is now providing access for you to this service. With your Huntsville Library Card number in good standing and your PIN number you can check out/down load MP3 Books from this collection for two weeks at a time. Your PIN number is usually the last four digits of the phone number we have on your record. You can then listen to the books using your laptop, personal computer or most recent MP3 players including iPods. After the two weeks the software makes the file unplayable and it automatically becomes available for another user.
Use the OLS Overdrive Service or read more about it
